The exhibition FLOW presents a series of relief paintings by Czech visual artist Veronika Manukjan, inspired by natural processes and the constant state of transformation found in nature.
In her work, the artist explores her own distinctive approach to structure, light, and monochromatic colour. She draws inspiration from the principles that shape the natural world — the flow of water, the growth of root systems, branching patterns, erosion, and organic structures hidden beneath the surface. She transforms these processes into relief compositions in which movement, energy, and transformation converge.
At a time saturated with information and visual stimuli, she deliberately reduces colour in order to create space for a deeper perception of light, material, and detail. Her monochromatic works invite the viewer to focus on what is essential and to discover the richness concealed within the subtle nuances of their surfaces.
Light is an integral part of the work. As it interacts with the relief surface, it reveals its shifting qualities and highlights details that change according to the intensity of the light and the viewer’s angle of vision. Throughout the day, each painting therefore takes on new visual qualities and offers a different way of being perceived. Rather than remaining a fixed object, the work becomes a changing element within the space, revealing new layers of its structure with every shift in lighting conditions.
FLOW is an invitation to slow down. To notice light, structure, and details that often remain hidden beneath the surface. It reminds us that even seemingly static forms contain movement and transformation, engaging in a continuous dialogue with the space around us.
Veronika Manukjan (*1983) is a Czech visual artist working in the field of contemporary relief painting. Her distinctive monochromatic works treat light as an active part of the artwork, transforming in response to the surrounding space and the viewer’s angle of vision. Her work has been presented in numerous solo exhibitions and is held in private collections in the Czech Republic and abroad.
