Space does not begin with the floor plan nor does it end at the walls. Before designing, renovating, selecting, or occupying a property, it is essential to understand the context in which it is situated and how the surroundings, the building, and the spatial organization influence the experience of those who use it.
In this session, Alexandra Morgado proposes an interpretation of space that integrates Architecture, Classical Feng Shui, and Environmental Psychology, moving from the surroundings and the territory to people’s interior experience.
Using an observational methodology, we will analyze different levels of space—the surroundings, the building, the entrance, interior flows, and the relationship between space and people—seeking to identify qualities, constraints, and opportunities before any intervention.
Classical Feng Shui will be presented from a professional rather than a decorative perspective—as a system for interpreting the relationship between people, space, and time—without resorting to symbolic objects, decorative solutions, or generalized formulas.
Through concrete examples and a practical case study, Alexandra Morgado will demonstrate how observing and understanding a place can contribute to better decisions regarding the design, renovation, and use of spaces.
Alexandra Morgado holds a Master’s degree in Architecture, is a member of the Portuguese Architects’ Association, and serves as President of the IFSA Portugal Chapter. With over 30 years of experience, she works in the fields of architecture, interior design, consulting, and education.
