Following the FORMA Festival, the Roca Lisboa Gallery will host the winners of two categories of the FORMA National Architecture Awards for a discussion about their winning projects.

On October 22, at 6:00 p.m., the projects in the Emerging Young Architects and Public Facilities categories will be highlighted in a session designed to showcase the ideas, processes, and choices that lie at the heart of two works recognized by the jury.

Emerging Young Architects

  • Luís Ferro, Estúdio Quimera

Mouraria Garden Shelter was recognized by the jury for its connection to modern architecture with vernacular roots, its attention to detail, and its ability to interpret the conditions of the site and existing structures.

“The proposed architecture, in addition to revealing great delicacy and sensitivity in the use of light, materials, design, and details, results in a work of great beauty and maturity.”

Community Facilities

  • Paulo Tormenta Pinto, Domitianus Arquitetura

Ramalde Sports Park was recognized in the Community Facilities category for the way its architecture contributes to social integration and inclusion, playing an active role in transforming society.

“The Ramalde Sports Park promotes the integration and social inclusion of citizens; this community facility underscores the social responsibility of architects and architecture in transforming society.”

The session will provide an opportunity to explore these two winning projects up close and reflect on different ways of thinking about and practicing architecture, based on the relationship between territory, community, materiality, and context.

The FORMA initiative encompasses the FORMA National Architecture Awards and its associated festival, promoted by IF – Produtora Cultural de Arquitetura, with the aim of recognizing, highlighting, and promoting projects and architects who contribute to innovation in construction, architectural quality, and the enhancement of the landscape throughout Portugal.

Admission to the event is free, but registration is required as seating is limited.
