The Roca Lisboa Gallery is hosting the Creative Appliqué Workshop, an experience dedicated to exploring the textile technique of appliqué, led by artist Teresa Nunes.
Appliqué is a textile composition technique with centuries of history, found across different cultures and regions. The process is similar to collage, but involves applying fabric to a base using hand-stitching, creating compositions rich in texture, color, and narrative.
In this introductory workshop, participants are invited to explore this artistic language within a context of experimentation and contemporary creation. Through simple hand-sewing methods, participants will develop approaches to visual composition, pattern construction, and the relationship between materiality and graphic expression.
This is a form of artistic expression that can be present in our lives in various ways, such as in clothing, home furnishings like blankets and pillows, or even in exhibition pieces.
Admission to the event is free, but registration is required as space is limited. The session will take place on July 9, at 6:00 p.m., at the Roca Lisboa Gallery.
