Following the success of ARCADE’s first Barcelona chapter, The Souvenir City, last May, we present a new ARCADE session: City of Refuge, taking place on 20 October at 7:00 pm as part of the Barcelona Design Week programme
ARCADE is an academic project created in collaboration with the architecture studio Arquid. Conceived as a space for reflection on architectural practice from a multidisciplinary and cross-scale perspective, it unfolds through different seasons and themes, addressing contemporary challenges through game-inspired dynamics.
In ARCADE 05, guests will use an ARCADE game to explore how contemporary cities are shaped by patterns of mobility and social transformation that continually redefine the ways in which they are inhabited.
The session will focus particularly on Barcelona, a city historically shaped by multiple processes of arrival, exchange and cultural intermingling. This makes it an especially relevant context in which to reflect on how a sense of belonging and urban coexistence are constructed today.
Topics such as reception and inclusion, access to housing, community-building and the city’s ability to integrate diverse social realities will guide and inspire the discussion. From an architectural and territorial perspective, the conversation will seek to open up reflections on the spaces, infrastructures and residential models that can help create more inclusive and stable environments, capable of adapting to change without losing their identity.
Don’t miss out!
