Roca London Gallery took part in London Design Festival 2026 with a programme bringing together art, architecture, sound and ideas around belonging.

The Gallery’s programme began on 11 September with a live performance by Gadi Sassoon as part of Resonant Lightscapes, an immersive installation by Yael Erel, Gadi Sassoon and Avner BenNatan, curated by Alisa Lisovskaia.

Developed in dialogue with the fluid architecture of Roca London Gallery, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, Resonant Lightscapes combined reflected light, sound, robotics and kinetic elements to create an evolving spatial experience. During the live performance, Sassoon used a camera to capture the reflections generated within the installation and translate them into sound in real time. The result created a direct feedback loop between the visual movement of light and the changing sonic environment.

The installation continued at the Gallery from till 14 September as part of the London Design Festival Partner Programme and Chelsea Design District.

On 16 September, Roca London Gallery hosted The Architecture of Belonging: Unbuilt, the second session in a two-part public event series curated by STIR for the Gallery. Bringing together practitioners from architecture, art and design, the evening explored how the built environment can shape experiences of belonging, exclusion and participation.

Four contributors approached the subject from different perspectives: architect and artist Elsie Owusu OBE; Torange Khonsari, co-founder and director of Public Works; JJ Cliff, director of Studio Weave; and multidisciplinary artist and poet Rhael “LionHeart” Cape. Their presentations considered questions ranging from land ownership and civic space to everyday acts of welcome and the experience of the body within the city.

Together, the events formed Roca London Gallery’s contribution to London Design Festival 2026, creating space for both experimentation and discussion around how we experience architecture and the environments around us.
